Inspiration 101

As the African saying goes "Umuntu ungumuntu ngebantu",loosely translated that a person becomes what they are through other people. Unfortunately, nowadays people use other people for imitation..but the greatest people use others as inspiration. Here's a list of women that have served as great inspirations to my life at present, influencing my style and art, as well as my perception of the world I live in.

1. Nyne Lyves
I thank the day I discovered Nyne Lyves...a typical hybrid creative, she's a model, jewelery designer, stylist, blogger. Not limiting herself to anything she shows that if you want to do it,you can. However, what really inspired me about her was her passion for youth development and her involvement in many socially conscious initiatives. Recently, she single-handedly connected other women in her industry with The Tea Takeover- Influential Women on the Brink of Brilliance,to brainstorm and work on finding a breakthrough using art to effect change and improve the welfare of the youth in her area.  Blessed with talent, beauty, and style, she's a reminder of the fact that God only blesses you, to become a blessing to others too.

2. Solange Knowles

Definitely my hair inspiration, she brought back natural chic beginning with her short crop, transitioning into traditional box braids, and now finally styling on another level with her lush afro. Not only that, but I adore the transformation she underwent, finally embracing her individuality, silencing all those who accused her of trying to be like her sister Beyonce. At first scarce on the scene, Solange was clearly taking the time to manifest in her cocoon, and is now a beautifully blossomed butterfly...

3. Danii Phae

The coolest bitch, effortlessly. Danii Phae is one of the most styln New Yorkers- a model and soon launching her clothing line PHAE that I will definitely be coveting or spending my negative riches online for. Her style is urban, but with an eclectic twist- she's hood dope but versatile and mod so she's about to be relevant on my fashion vision-board for a while...

4. Rihanna
My eternal love- Rihanna. No matter what antics she gets up to in her personal life that make her a questionable role model, she stays a Style Messiah. Her innate ability to adapt to and pull off any trend in any season makes her the beacon of fashion, however never being generic with it. Currently, she's killing the grunge-Londoner-rock-chic look with platinum blonde locks..no one is sure what's next, but everyone knows RiRi will be killn' it.

5.RHARHA

(via thecapitalofcool.blogspot.com)

And lastly, the blogger of the century and the reason I got so much into it. Bridging gaps and breaking those bridges, one of the founders of thecapitalofcool.blogspot.com, Rochelle aka RhaRha, is the most stylish thing out of South Africa, Cape Town to be more specific. Boundaries don't exist to her and her flawfull thus flawless crew, they embrace every culture and incorporate every fashion denomination, creating a whole new cult of cool if you ask me..
