live fast, love young

He buys a bouquet of roses at the airport. She shall be arriving shortly. Approaching stranger after stranger, risking misunderstanding and a communication breakdown, he asks if they may help him show his love to her. He gives a rose to each, explaining that they are to walk up to her and present it to her. She lands, appears. Random after random walks up to her, handing her a lovely deep red rose… not knowing where this love could be coming from when it’s coming from every direction she can’t help the tears of happiness… glancing wildly around she finally spots the true source. She finally realizes his love for him.

Well, “He” is portrayed by Paulo Coehlo in his latest book Aleph. And “He” happens to be 50plus years old. Any such action from kids of our age and generation are almost unheard of. Or if he honestly went through those lengths for you then he must really be pining for what’s in those jeans. In a world where sex is a means to profit and no longer a unique spiritual union of two people through the physical, we are tempted to conclude that “love” no longer exists- or if it does, is just a front to obtain something else with more tangible value. It is refuted, rejected, or disregarded. Feel no love, feel no pain.

Feel no love, feel no pain- peer to peer we’re all obsessed with life feeling good. However, we don’t realize there exist something that makes us feel better- yes, ironically, love. Love accepted by the self even though rejected by the other for whom it is meant; love FOR oneself, love with the awareness of all its healing and transformative properties. Love realized through the most simple but pervasive avenues like music, writing or a speech. When you hear an extraordinary piece of music or your favorite song, that feeling of all stress and negativity melting away, that moment you close your eyes and let the vibrations course through your curves and nerves, those vibrations are those of Love. That moment you open your eyes when the song ends, whether wanting more or sad the song has ended, you feel renewed- that is the power of Love.

So it takes scrubbing the fear and denial from your eyes to realize that it’s way easier accepting love than fighting it off. The courage to extend such purity is tantamount to our transformation, and defines our character. It is this courage that keeps one young and light with the joys of experience. And don’t we want to always be forever young?  It’s just letting go and being- easier done than said I promise. And aren’t we yungens all about the easy life?
